MONI WHITE DRESSMonisola Ogunsuyi also known as Moni was born on March 24th, 1994 in downtown Toronto. She is of Nigerian decent and proud of her Nigerian-Canadian culture.

Growing up was very hard for Moni and at times she almost thought it was impossible. She grew up in a very violent and toxic home and suffered from depression and anxiety because of it. At the ages of 16 and 17 she was also sexually assaulted and has been a survivor of domestic violence as well. She has been on her own since she was 16 and hasn’t looked back since.

Moni is a fun-loving, beautiful soul and hopes that her story will inspire millions of young women and children worldwide. Her platform is to bring awareness to violence against women and children.

ACOW-LogoMoni is a workaholic, an Account manager at Empyrean Merchant Services and also a Manager at Star Energy. She loves fund raising and tries her hardest to make a difference within the community by working with A Celebration of Women™ The World Hub for Women Leaders that Care; and also For Students and Communities.

Moni’s experiences have made her stronger and hopes to inspire young women to come forward with their stories and feel the same.

“My name is Monisola Ogunsuyi, but everyone calls me Moni, and I am a delegate in the 2015 Miss World Canada Pageant.

The reason why I have decided to participate in Miss World Canada is to help women and children who have experienced the same things that I have in my life. I am a survivor of child abuse rape and domestic violence. I really want to bring awareness to these 3 things because they are extremely common, but unfortunately not looked at as a big problem. I especially want to focus on sexual assault due to the fact that I was assaulted twice in my life and blamed for both. 1 in 4 women experience some sort of sexual trauma and less than 10% of these women report or even come forward about their experience. Thus, my platform is to help and bring awareness to ‘violence against women and children‘. “

moni afri canadaThrough this journey with Miss World Canada I have learned a great deal about myself and I am so thankful. Finally being able to talk about my life is theripudic. I’ve been given the opportunity to meet so many maxing people and I feel so honoured and thankful.

I want to help young women and children. I want to inspire young women and children. I want young women and children to know that they don’t have I be a product of their past or current situations. I want young women and children to have the courage to speak up about their experiences. I want them to know that they have my support and to the world I want to let you know that WE NEED yours.
